{"id":1788,"date":"2022-12-21T05:11:04","date_gmt":"2022-12-21T05:11:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=1788"},"modified":"2023-11-03T05:12:51","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T05:12:51","slug":"speedway-xmas-wish","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/sport\/speedway-xmas-wish\/","title":{"rendered":"Speedway Xmas wish"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Big couple of meetings for Borderline Speedway<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Borderline Speedway officials have one wish this Christmas \u2013 that the weather is kind for the remainder of the 2022\/23 season after the first two meetings on the calendar have been cancelled courtesy of wet conditions.<\/p>\n<p>December 28 looms large with racing hopefully set to rev into action at the Glenburnie track with a full pits for a jam packed program.<\/p>\n<p>Sprintcar Speedweek is always popular and with local hopes Glen Sutherland, Scott Enderl and Steve Lines part of the 30-strong field, there is plenty of interest for local fans, as well as the Stark car going around with Daniel Pestka in the driver\u2019s seat again.<\/p>\n<p>As it always does, the Speedweek racing attracts the best drivers in Australia with James McFadden home from the United States to race, Jamie Veal set to tackle the Borderline track and Lachlan McHugh all coming in off a strong 12 months of racing form.<\/p>\n<p>There will also be a US flavour to the event with young driver Chase Randall (pictured) taking on the Australian summer speedway season and with nominations yet to close at print time, hopes were high a couple of other American drivers would be heading to the Borderline event.<\/p>\n<p>And the racing is not confined to the sprintcars, with 20 super sedans set to hit the track and more than 40 Formula 500 also set to race the night away in what is also a Speedweek concept.<\/p>\n<p>Dave Gartner is returning to super sedans to give locals another reason to head to the track on December 28, while in Formula 500, US brothers Alex Panella and Nikko Pannella, from California, will be tackling Speedweek.<\/p>\n<p>There ism little time for Borderline officials and volunteers to take a breath with the hosting of the National Junior Sedan Title from January 5-7 \u2013 the first time the tack has hosted the event since 2017.<\/p>\n<p>Seventy-eight drivers have entered the national event which is running for the 30th time.
