SUMMER weather was on show at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week for the running of the first of four rounds of the Summer Cup with 32 women vying for valuable points.<\/p>\n
There are two stroke, two stableford and one par round and each round scores 3, 2 or 1 point with the three best scores taken into the final result.<\/p>\n
The top three scores of the day were from division two and it was interesting the top eight scores all scored better on the inward nine holes.<\/p>\n
Division One winner Helen Myers 92\/17\/75 had splits of 47\/45 that Included pars on 15th and 17th holes.<\/p>\n
Women\u2019s captain Ronda Edwards 92\/16\/76 had to wait on a four-way countback before taking second place on the podium from Rosemary Martland 88\/12\/76, Dianne Perryman 96\/20\/76 and Sue Agars 96\/20\/76. Edwards scored pars on 8, 14 and 17th in her 49\/43 splits.<\/p>\n
Martland had a plethora of pars on her scorecard, 2, 5, 8, 11, 12 and 14th holes in her splits of 46\/42.<\/p>\n
The score of the day came from Division Two\u2019s Bernadette Pedlar 100\/33\/67.<\/p>\n
There were no pars but very consistent scoring of splits of 50\/50 contributed to her win.<\/p>\n
Closely following was Trudy Herbert 101\/32\/69 with splits of 51\/50 that Included a par on the dog-leg 15th and would have rued a blowout on the par five 3rd hole denying an even better result.<\/p>\n
Trudy-Anne Doyle was once again in the winner\u2019s circle signing for 110\/38\/72 with pars on the 5th and 15th holes in her splits of 58\/52.<\/p>\n
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot winners on the 2nd hole were Karen Panagopoulos (.20) and Johanna Gogan (.59).<\/p>\n
Gogan scored a birdie on the 5th and chip-in ferrets were recorded by Panagopoulos 1st, Janine Dunn 8th, Gogan 14th and Myers 15th.<\/p>\n
