STAND\u00a0 Like Stone Foundation will provide 51 scholarships to support Limestone Coast students pursue studies in 2026, with a total of $96,700 awarded.<\/p>\n
The scholarships will help students with a connection to the region meet the costs of secondary, vocational and tertiary study that often determine whether further education, whether locally or outside the Limestone Coast, is possible, from school fees and course materials to travel and living expenses.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery scholarship we award is an investment in local potential and leadership,\u201d said Stand Like Stone chief executive officer Jason Wallace.<\/p>\n
\u201cThanks to the generosity of our donors and the strength of our community, we\u2019re backing students in fields as diverse as nursing, education, engineering, medicine and the arts \u2013 we know many of these students will contribute skills and energy back into the Limestone Coast.\u201d<\/p>\n
SLSF chairperson Georgie McKay said supporting students now with strong connections to the Limestone Coast helped build the skills and capability the region will need into the future.<\/p>\n
\u201cOur scholarship program can only exist because of community generosity,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have grown the foundation over 20 years through bequests, donations and fundraising \u2013 including our gala annual Swinging with the Stars event \u2013 and that support directly translates into opportunities for local students.<\/p>\n
Mr Wallace said this year\u2019s recipients were diverse both in their educational pathways and backgrounds, but demonstrated clearly how scholarship support would help achieve their goals.<\/p>\n
\u201cFrom early secondary years through to advanced degrees, this year\u2019s recipients show determination, talent and a commitment to community,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019re proud to stand with them on their journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n
Students applying to Stand Like Stone were eligible for scholarships from a range of sub-funds established to support students from various geographical areas, backgrounds and areas of study.<\/p>\n
