BEACHPORT is set to welcome a new community art gallery with a group of residents working in partnership with Wattle Range Council to transform part of the Beachport Visitor Information Centre into a dedicated exhibition space.<\/p>\n
The proposal was presented to council in October and received endorsement, including council support to match the group\u2019s $5000 fundraising contribution.<\/p>\n
Construction of the gallery commenced last month, with completion expected any day now.<\/p>\n
Local artists from Beachport have been invited to participate in the inaugural exhibition, offering an opportunity for artists at all stages of their careers to showcase their work in the newly created gallery space.<\/p>\n
The exhibition will feature a diverse range of artworks including painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed media, ceramics, textiles, fine art photography and sculpture, celebrating the depth and diversity of local artistic talent.<\/p>\n
The Art Gallery Beachport group is also working closely with the Millicent Library to develop an annual exhibition program, with exhibitions scheduled to run for six-week periods throughout the year providing a consistent and engaging showcase of creative talent.<\/p>\n
Looking ahead, the program will broaden to feature artists from across the region and beyond, as well as host touring exhibitions further enriching the cultural experiences available to our community.<\/p>\n
Art Gallery Beachport spokesperson and renowned artist Fiona Pattinson said there were so many passionate artists in Beachport.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis gallery will provide an opportunity to showcase their work while continuing to grow the local arts community,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n
Wattle Range Council director of development services Emma Clay said the development of an art gallery was an important investment in the community.<\/p>\n
