EXPERIENCED local government operator Gary Button has been unveiled as the new chief executive officer of the District Council of Grant, kickstarting his tenure this week.<\/p>\n
Councillors endorsed the recommendation of the CEO Recruitment, Performance and Remuneration Selection Panel to appoint Mr Button at a Special Council Meeting at the end of last month. following an extensive and competitive recruitment process.<\/p>\n
Mr Button brings a strong understanding of the District Council of Grant, having served as acting chief executive officer since the resignation of former CEO Darryl Whicker in February this year, as well as on numerous occasions covering CEO annual leave.<\/p>\n
In addition, he has held the role of Director of Corporate Services and Community, providing him with broad organisational knowledge and a deep appreciation of the district and its communities.<\/p>\n
Mayor Kylie Boston welcomed Mr Button\u2019s appointment, describing it as a positive and confident step forward for the organisation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a fantastic result for council and for our community,\u201d Mayor Boston said. \u201cGary has demonstrated strong leadership during his time as Acting CEO, guiding the organisation with stability, professionalism and a clear focus on our strategic priorities.<\/p>\n

Mayor Boston said the appointment came at an important time for the district, with elected members looking forward to working closely with Mr Button to continue delivering council\u2019s strategic plan and achieving its long-term objectives.<\/p>\n
