THE Lions Clubs of Blue Lake City Lioness, Gambier City and Mount Gambier sponsored the recent successful free skin cancer screening at the Mount Gambier Marketplace.<\/p>\n
The unit was in Mount Gambier for three days.<\/p>\n
This was the third year in a row that the screening was made available, however, given that the screening unit services the whole of South Australia, the Northern Territory, and Broken Hill, Mount Gambier is unlikely to be on the 2027 schedule but the unit will still visit the Limestone Coast region at one of the other centres.<\/p>\n
The three-person screening team scanned 200 clients over the three days.<\/p>\n
The results were that 48 clients were referred to their medical professionals for assessment and diagnosis.<\/p>\n
This number amounted to 24 per cent with was several percentage points higher than last year’s screening.<\/p>\n
The screening statistics revealed that 81 males and 119 females were assessed.<\/p>\n
Furthermore, the previous screening history was one screened in the last six months, 29 screened between six and 12 months, 112 screened more than 12 months ago, and 59 not screened at all.<\/p>\n
The screening team was supported by an administration officer, Lion Beccy Field.<\/p>\n
The reception duties and catering were carried out by members of the three Lions Clubs: Blue Lake City Lioness, Gambier City, and Mount Gambier.<\/p>\n
