SHE has been a stalwart of the club since 1998 and at the weekend Hatherleigh netballers Sally Bateman celebrated her 100 game milestone.<\/p>\n
It was as an eight year old that Sally became an Eagle and her junior career brought many accolades.<\/p>\n
In 2002, she was part of the 13 and Under Premiership side coached by Lorraine Faulkner and in 2003 represented the Mid South East Netball Association at Country Champs and in the same year was part of Hatherleigh\u2019s 13 and Under team\u2019s successful premiership defence.<\/p>\n
The 2005 season was a standout year for Sally.<\/p>\n
She was a key contributor of the 15 and Under Premiership team, earned Best on Court in the Grand Final and awarded the club Best and Fairest.<\/p>\n
Her efforts were further recognised with the Coaches Trophy, and she was also named Runner Up Best and Fairest in the Mid South East Netball Association.<\/p>\n
These achievements reflected not only her talent but also her determination, resilience and leadership on the court.<\/p>\n
Sally\u2019s senior career has been equally impressive, achieving recognition for her performance and consistency with her creative feeding a feature of her game.<\/p>\n
She was awarded Runner Up Best and Fairest in B Reserve in 2017, Best and Fairest in B Reserve in 2021, and again finished Runner up Best and Fairest in B Reserve 2025.<\/p>\n
She has also played an important role in Hatherleigh\u2019s on-court success in recent years, playing in the B Reserve Premiership teams in 2023 and 2025.<\/p>\n
Notably, during the 2023 premiership over Mt Burr she entered the game in the mid court and helped shift the momentum at a crucial stage of the match, showcasing her ability to perform under pressure and influence the game.<\/p>\n
Sally\u2019s commitment to the club extends well beyond the court.<\/p>\n
She joined the Hatherleigh Ladies Committee in 2019, served as vice president in 2023-2024 and become president in 2025, where she continues her work this season overseeing rosters, ordering and club operations.<\/p>\n
Sally joined the Netball Committee last year and remains an active member contributing to the growth and smooth running of the club.<\/p>\n
Sally\u2019s dedication off the court demonstrates the same work ethic and leadership she shows on court.<\/p>\n
Sally\u2019s commitment to netball is supported by her family, including her husband Robbie and children Arlan, Jameson, Luca, Alaska, Dakota, Digby and Banjo and their support has been integral to her long and successful journey with the club.<\/p>\n
With four of her children playing at Hatherleigh, Sally\u2019s legacy is already shining through \u2013 and if she can hang in there a bit longer there is a chance the club will get to enjoy a mother-daughter duo take the court.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
