ST Martins Lutheran College\u2019s Courtney Lewis has been named a Rising Star for 2026 by The Educator, recognising her as one of Australia\u2019s most promising early career teachers making a significant impact in R-12 education.<\/p>\n
The Rising Stars list celebrates standout professionals aged 35 and under who demonstrate effective leadership, innovation and achievement in their careers.<\/p>\n
Courtney, Year 9 and Year 10 Year Level Leader at St Martins Lutheran College, is in only her second full year of teaching, yet already shapes the culture of two secondary cohorts.<\/p>\n
She moved directly from graduation into the classroom and a newly created leadership role, helping to design the foundations of year level leadership at the College.<\/p>\n
Beginning at St Martins in 2017 as a Learning Support Officer, Courtney completed her Bachelor of Education before transitioning to teaching in 2024, bringing a strong understanding of student needs and school culture.<\/p>\n
She later coordinated the Year 9 Rite Journey Program, ensuring it remained meaningful and responsive to adolescent development.<\/p>\n
Known for her calm, student-centred leadership, Courtney prioritises listening to students and colleagues and has strengthened her coaching capability through targeted professional development.<\/p>\n
Colleagues and families regard her as a key presence in fostering belonging across the school community.<\/p>\n
The Rising Stars 2026 recipients were selected following a detailed review of nominations from across the Australian R-12 sector, with judges focusing on clear outcomes, leadership practice and impact on student growth.<\/p>\n
Courtney\u2019s recognition underscores the vital contribution of early career educators who combine ambition, adaptability and values-driven leadership to support students and colleagues alike.<\/p>\n
Finalists shortlisted for the overall Rising Star award will be announced later this month, with the overall winner to be announced later this year at the Australian Education Awards in Sydney.<\/p>\n
