AFTER a few weeks of fine weather, the heaven\u2019s opened up with drizzly rain and a few heavy showers changing the conditions on the course at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week.<\/p>\n
First on the agenda was the Caffe Belgiorno sponsored 2026 Handicap Championships.<\/p>\n
Unfortunately there were a few byes due to medical issues and top qualifier in Division 1 Annette Ford draw a bye advancing to the semi finals.<\/p>\n
Next was Jaynee Oberer v Rosemary Martland with Oberer taking the win 1up.<\/p>\n
Martland had to relinquish a massive 15 handicap strokes and Oberer made great use of these.<\/p>\n
Ronda Edwards v Helen Stratford was another going to the last hole with Edwards taking the win 1up.<\/p>\n
Stratford received five handicap strokes.<\/p>\n
Last was another very close game between Sally Houlihan v Karen Panagopoulos both off 21 handicap and went to the wire with the win to Panagopoulos 1up.<\/p>\n
Division Two was also hampered with byes but led off with top qualifier Bev Pascoe v Gael Ford and after a bit of see-sawing Pascoe giving 11 handicap strokes to Ford took control winning 5\/4.<\/p>\n
Next was Johanna Gogan advancing to the semi finals with a bye along with Trudy Herbert also with a bye.<\/p>\n
Lastly was Vivienne Wilson v Dianne Allen, Wilson taking the win 8\/7 comfortably after relinquishing 9 handicap strokes.<\/p>\n
STABLEFORD RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n A stableford competition was played for those not involved in the quarter finals with weather conditions hampering good scores being recorded.<\/p>\n Division One winner Josie Ashby played off a 21 handicap scoring 32 points from splits of 17\/15 that Included three three-pointers.<\/p>\n Annette Ford was runner up with 31 points off her 27 handicap with splits of 15\/16 and Included a three-pointer along with a fine four-point par on the 13th hole.<\/p>\n Division Two winner was Lyn Annand after a countback with Carol Downing after both scoring 31 points.<\/p>\n Annand off 37 had splits of 16\/15 with five three-pointers, Downing 30 handicap also with splits of 16\/15 had three three-pointers.<\/p>\n Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on 14th winners were Ashby (2.20) and Gogan (11 mtrs).<\/p>\n Pro-shot winner was Helen Myers (13 mtrs) and chip-in ferrets were Sue Agars 7th, Downing 12th, Ford 13th.<\/p>\n
