THE semi finals of the women\u2019s 2026 CaFfe Belgiorno sponsored Handicap Championships were played at the Blue Lake Golf Club last week in perfect weather conditions and with the course in readiness for the Noel Barr Toyota annual women\u2019s Open Day for the 28th year.<\/p>\n
The first semi in Division One was a tight game between top qualifier Annette Ford and 4th qualifier Jaynee Oberer going to the 19th hole to get a result of 1-up going Oberer\u2019s way – Ford had to relinquish 1 handicap stroke.<\/p>\n
The second semi final was between best friends Ronda Edwards 2nd qualifier and sixth qualifier Karen Panagopoulos with the win of 7\/6 going to Edwards who got away to an early start after having to give four handicap strokes.<\/p>\n
Division Two first semi saw top qualifier Bev Pascoe chasing a back to back win had too much finals expertise for fourth seed Johanna Gogan winning 3\/1 after giving four handicap strokes to Gogan.<\/p>\n
Second semi between Trudy Herbert second seed and Vivienne Wilson third seed was the most even of all matches both playing off a 33 handicap.<\/p>\n
It was Wilson\u2019s win on the 18th hole 1-up.<\/p>\n
A stableford competition was played for those not involved in the semi finals and the winner in Division One was Helen Myers 17 handicap with a great score of 37 points after splits of 18\/19 that Included six par three-pointers.<\/p>\n
Runner up was Josie Ashby 21 handicap after a countback with Sue Agars 20 handicap both signing for 33 points.<\/p>\n
Ashby had splits of 17\/16 with four three-pointers included and Agars splits of 18\/15 included three three-pointers.<\/p>\n
Winner in Division Two Lyn Annand also had to face a countback with Carol Melhuish both scoring 29 points.<\/p>\n
Annand played off 37 and had splits of 11\/18 with four three-pointers and a four-point par on the 15th.<\/p>\n
Melhuish off a 38 handicap had splits of 16\/13 that included four-point par on the 5th along with two three-pointers.<\/p>\n
Third placegetter was Sophie Johnson with 27 points off her 40 handicap, her splits of 15\/12 included three three-pointers.<\/p>\n
Nearest to the pin 2nd shot on 16th winners were Agars (1.17) and Lee Anderson (3.48) Pro-shot winner was Ashby (1.50).<\/p>\n
Chip-in ferrets scored by Rosemary Martland 2nd\/5th, Myers 9th, Agars 14th.<\/p>\n
