THE Annual Women\u2019s Open Day for 2026, with major sponsor Noel Barr Toyota for 28 years, was played in exceptional warm sunny conditions and was well attended by nine golf clubs from the Limestone Coast as well as the Western districts of Victoria – Balmoral, Beachport, Hamilton, Lucindale, Millicent, Mt Gambier, Naracoorte, Penola and Portland.<\/p>\n
At the award presentation women\u2019s captain Ronda Edwards thanked Noel Barr Toyota and representative Tim Scarth, along with other donors Herbert Wines, Pick Avenue Bakery, She\u2019s Apples and those who donated for the \u2018money tree\u2019 prizes.<\/p>\n
Thanks was also given to the ladies who prepared the scrumptious lunch and afternoon tea, the match committee, greenkeeper and his staff and Blue Lake Bar & Bistro.<\/p>\n
Blue Lake Golf Club longest serving life member Judy Collins was in attendance as well as newest life member Geraldine Scott.<\/p>\n
RESULTS:<\/strong><\/p>\n Trophy Winners2 Pair 4BBB Stableford<\/p>\n TOP 8Helen Myers\/Kristy Janeway 76, Ronda Edwards\/Bev Pascoe 68 (countback)Helen Chilton\/Kathy Webber 68, Carol Melhuish\/Cherryl Hill 66, Jenny Walker\/Julie Moran 64<\/p>\n (countback)Kate Brown\/Carol Downing 64(countback)Rebecca Shanks\/Annette McClenan 64,Janine Dunn\/Johanna Gogan 63<\/p>\n BEST INDIVIDUAL SCORE:<\/strong><\/p>\n 1st – Kristy Janeway 40 points2nd – Jenny Walker 383rd – Karen Panagopoulos 36(countback)<\/p>\n NOVELTIES:<\/strong><\/p>\n NTP 2nd – A Grade Ronda Edwards<\/p>\n OPEN14th – Josie Ashby (in hole) 2nd shot<\/p>\n OPEN16th – Kristy Janeway (in hole) 2nd shot<\/p>\n LONG DRIVES 4th hole:<\/strong><\/p>\n A – Kathy Webber, B – Kate Hommelhoff, C – Karen Gould.<\/p>\n SHORTEST DRIVE 13th hole:<\/strong><\/p>\n Vivienne Wilson<\/p>\n NEAREST TO ROPE:<\/strong><\/p>\n Leanne Hunt (on rope)<\/p>\n HANDICAP CHAMPIONSHIPS RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n An early morning start for the Blue Lake Golf Club Women\u2019s Handicap Championships proved to be fortuitous as the weather was mild with the sun making a welcome appearance.<\/p>\n It was a case of a good display of golf in both divisions.<\/p>\n In Division one Jaynee Oberer took on women\u2019s captain Ronda Edwards, with Oberer, handicap 27 receiving an extra 11 strokes from Edwards 17 handicap.<\/p>\n Oberer made good use of those strokes but it was Edwards taking charge 3-up on the turn to the 10th, scores seesawed Edwards was 5-up until Oberer salvaged the 17th and 18th holes to bring the score back to Edwards 3-up.<\/p>\n Oberer then won the 19th, Edwards 20, 21, Edwards 22, 23 then able to clinch the win with the 24th and squaring 25th finishing 3\/2.<\/p>\n The Division Two final between Bev Pascoe and Vivienne Wilson was always going to be an epic game.<\/p>\n Wilson off a 33 handicap only had to relinquish one stroke to Pascoe playing off 33.<\/p>\n Wilson had the early getaway winning 1st and 2nd holes, was all square after 8th, Pascoe won the 8th to be 1-up.<\/p>\n The scores seesawed both having three wins each making Pascoe still 1-up after the 18th.<\/p>\n A win on the 19th to Wilson made it all square, 20th a squared hole next followed a win for Pascoe on the 21st, things were getting very interesting all square on the 24th, Wilson then won 25 and 26 holes taking the win 2\/1 for her second championship win since her first win in 2013.<\/p>\n At presentations thanks was given to the caddies Karen Panagopoulos, Annette Ford, Johanna Gogan and referees Helen Myers and Geraldine Scott.<\/p>\n WEDNESDAY STABLEFORD RESULTS<\/strong><\/p>\n A stableford competition was held for those not involved in the finals.<\/p>\n Rosemary Martland was the winner in Division 1 playing off a13 handicap signing for 34 points with a plethora of pars in her splits of 15\/19.<\/p>\n Second place went to Sue Agars (20) posting 30 points with splits of 16\/14 that Included a par on 14th and birdie on 16th.<\/p>\n Third was Helen Stratford (21) 28 points with a par on 2nd and birdie on 15th in her 16\/12 splits.<\/p>\n Division Two winner was Kate Hommelhoff (31) posting 31 points with splits of 15\/16 that Included a par on 2nd and 9th holes.<\/p>\n Second was Janine Dunn (37) with three three-pointers and a four-point par on 15th.<\/p>\n Third on the podium after a countback with Dunn was Lyn Annand (37) also signing for 30 points with a four-point oar on 5th and three three pointers in her 14\/16 splits.<\/p>\n Nearest to the pin 2nd shot winners on 2nd hole were Stratford (1 66) and Trudy Herbert. Pro-shot winner was Gael Ford and Birdie prizes to Stratford 15th and Agars 16th.<\/p>\n
