THE 39th annual Tenison Woods College vs Cardijn College Exchange went down to the wire last week, with the former claiming the honours by a single point on home soil to secure a fifth consecutive title.<\/p>\n
In a fitting turn of events, the result came down to the final match after scores were levelled at five-all following a big win by the Tenison Woods College girls football side.<\/p>\n
Another strong performance from the boys footballers in the final clash gave them the win and handed Tenison Woods College the overall victory, 6-5.<\/p>\n
The three-day Exchange started with a quiz night and friendly staff vs students Family Feud event on the Sunday (June 14), accompanied by pizza and a chance for students and staff of both Colleges to mingle and form friendships.<\/p>\n
From there, competition heated up with a showcase of sporting talent across the next two days.<\/p>\n
After a packed day-time schedule, Monday night featured the girls and boys basketball matches, which followed the victorious debating competition and acted as the drawcard event of the Exchange.<\/p>\n
After two hard-fought battles, Cardijn College prevailed in both matches to leave Tenison Woods College with no room for error heading into Tuesday, with Cardijn holding a 5-4 lead.<\/p>\n
With only two games left to play, pressure was on the Tenison Woods College football teams, but they were up to the challenge and prevailed to keep the winning streak alive.<\/p>\n
At the conclusion of the Exchange, awards were presented to the top performers from both Colleges.<\/p>\n
Accolades were given out for each event, while overall MVP awards were also presented, with this year\u2019s winners being Tenison Woods College students Bell Coghlan and Doug Slattery for their standout efforts in a range of sports throughout the Exchange.<\/p>\n
The whole event was livestreamed thanks to Marcus Jones at VideoLive, who was kind enough to once again provide the opportunity for our Year 10 Sports Journalism students to receive hands-on experience, getting behind the cameras themselves to film the streams along with some invaluable tuition from an expert in the field.<\/p>\n
While the talent and athleticism were certainly a highlight, so too was the sportsmanship shown by both Colleges, which was to a high standard, be it on or off the court\/field.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
