{"id":2064,"date":"2023-01-11T06:50:13","date_gmt":"2023-01-11T06:50:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=2064"},"modified":"2023-11-03T06:52:55","modified_gmt":"2023-11-03T06:52:55","slug":"seaside-celebrity-power","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/seaside-celebrity-power\/","title":{"rendered":"Seaside celebrity power"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Hooked on Portland attracts big names to foreshore<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Eventgoers can be prepared to sing along to the classic tunes of \u2018Chained to the Wheel\u2019 and \u2018Hold on to Me\u2019, with The Black Sorrows set to perform as part of month.<\/p>\n<p>Australian blues rock band The Black Sorrows, and television chef Courtney Roulston will headline the festival\u2019s entertainment offerings, which will take place on January 28 and 29 along the Portland Foreshore.<\/p>\n<p>The popular festival will also feature a two day long fishing competition, fishing education workshops, Skate Park Leagues Australia competition, food trucks, markets and more as part of its schedule of free family friendly entertainment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Black Sorrows have won the ARIA for Best Band, played sold-out shows across Europe and sold more than two million albums worldwide \u2013 they are a huge drawcard for our festival,\u201d said Glenelg Shire Mayor Cr Scott Martin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Black Sorrows are best recognised by Joe Camilleri, the frontman and brains behind the band. As a singer, songwriter, saxophonist and producer, Joe is considered one of the most genuinely talented figures in Australian music.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSongs such as Hold On To Me, Harley and Rose, Chained To The Wheel , Never Let Me Go and the Chosen Ones became radio staples \u2013 we can\u2019t wait to hear these classic Australian tunes played live at our Foreshore for all to enjoy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Black Sorrows will also be supported by local band The Southbound Three, who will be launching their new album following Hooked on Portland.\u201d Alongside the music, Portland\u2019s seafood would also be celebrated with a visit from celebrity chef Courtney Roulston.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor the food side of the festival, we are thrilled to welcome popular chef Courtney Roulston to Portland,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCourtney\u2019s success in the kitchen first started as a much-loved contestant on Series 2 of Masterchef in 2010. \u201cSince then, she has continued to share her passion for cooking.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Courtney appears as a regular on cooking show Farm to Fork on Channel 10.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCourtney\u2019s humble family friendly recipes have also earned her plenty of engagement on her social media channels, so we look forward to welcoming her to Hooked on Portland and learning the secrets to some of her viral salads,\u201d Mayor Martin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is something on offer for everyone and we can\u2019t wait to welcome back crowds to the Glenelg Shire for this iconic event.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/57-3.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"441\" height=\"289\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2065\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/57-3.jpg 441w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/57-3-300x197.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 441px) 100vw, 441px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Hooked on Portland was first launched in 2018 and is coordinated by the Glenelg Shire Council in partnership with the Victorian Fisheries Authority (VFA).
