{"id":275,"date":"2022-10-12T05:50:14","date_gmt":"2022-10-12T05:50:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=275"},"modified":"2023-11-01T05:54:04","modified_gmt":"2023-11-01T05:54:04","slug":"lions-ladies-busy-serving-the-community","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/lions-ladies-busy-serving-the-community\/","title":{"rendered":"Lions ladies busy serving the community"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Garden projects, community transport &#038; winter warmers all on the agenda<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Lions Clubs around Australia have been celebrating the formation of the first Lions Club formed in Australia in Lismore New South Wales 75 years ago.<\/p>\n<p>As part of this celebration Lions were being encouraged to plant 75 gardens Australia wide during the month of September, with the theme \u2018Lions Australia planting seeds of hope since 1947\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>To celebrate Planting Seeds of Hope and the theme Always Lions Australia, several members of the Lions Club of Blue Lake City Lioness recently planted blue &#038; yellow petunias \u2013 the Lions colours -in partnership with the City of Mount Gambier in planter boxes in Mount Gambier\u2019s CBD.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/10\/11.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"807\" height=\"525\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-278\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/10\/11.png 807w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/10\/11-300x195.png 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2022\/10\/11-768x500.png 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 807px) 100vw, 807px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Members have also recently donated a car fridge to Mount Gambier Red Cross for use in their bus, the fridge is a donation in memory of the Lioness Club Charter President Claire Welch. Claire worked tirelessly for the Lioness Club, a member for more than 40 years.<\/p>\n<p>A wonderful mentor for many past and present Lioness and Lions members.<\/p>\n<p>Many meals and cakes came out of Claire\u2019s kitchen to raise money to help people less fortunate than ourselves. She set an example with a deep understanding of her fellow man. Claire instigated the Red Cross Telecross &#8211; a daily telephone service to those in the community.
