Beethoven\u2019s Symphony No. 5 in C minor is one of the most iconic works in music history, with the famous \u2018da da da duuumm\u2019 opening motif instantly recognisable the world over. The simple themes and rich, complex musical texture and dramatic urgency all add to this landmark piece.<\/p>\n
Mozart\u2019s Clarinet Concerto was famously written for a basset clarinet, an instrument that did not exist at the time the piece was composed. The concerto was given to Anton Stadler, a renowned clarinettist at the time who had developed an early version of the basset clarinet. The piece is known for its expressive qualities, and the basset clarinet allowed Mozart to explore the instrument\u2019s full potential.<\/p>\n
