The Millicent Gallery is set to unveil, \u2018Nature Through the Artist\u2019s Eyes\u2019 \u2013 an exciting exhibition which brings together artists from across Wattle Range, many of whom have not previously exhibited.<\/p>\n
Curated by renowned artist Julie McEwen, this exhibition features Millicent\u2019s Chris Hollingsworth, Tanya Hunter and Sue Smith, who are joined by Penola\u2019s Stella Scanlon, Anne Johnson, Cate Bell, Margaret Hage, Anne Miller, Val Smith, Lois Hodge and Jill Eckermann, along with Beachport\u2019s Julie Linnell, Leah Hamilton, Keryn Campbell and Wendy Drew. There may even be a surprise artist or two.<\/p>\n
Wattle Range Council manager libraries and gallery Janice Nitschke said Julie was keen to involve artists from Penola and Beachport, promoting wider visitation and fresh participation.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are excited to have the artists also take part in a series of \u2018artist in residence\u2019 and these have previously proven to be extremely successful,\u201d Mrs Nitschke said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Millicent Gallery has always been supported by a wide range of artists and in it\u2019s 30th year we were keen to encourage wider representation of our outlying areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is well recognised the positive impact small to medium sized galleries have on our local communities. They inspire our residents and visitors through art, stories and ideas \u2013 creating jobs, educational and volunteering opportunities for many ages as well as fostering community excitement and pride.\u201d<\/p>\n
Wattle Range Mayor Des Noll will open the exhibition with guest speaker Julie McEwen this Friday at 6pm and it is open through to June 30.<\/p>\n
