Jam packed program for this October\u2019s Celebrate Seniors festival<\/strong><\/p>\n

A program filled with music, dancing, art, nature, and fabulous food has been planned to celebrate our regions\u2019 Seniors throughout the month of October.<\/p>\n

The Celebrate Seniors Working Group, comprising representatives of Wattle Range Council, community groups, organisations and industry, have been busy planning the program which will be delivered with the generous support and assistance of many.<\/p>\n

An annual fixture since 2011, the Celebrate Seniors event is highly anticipated and well supported by the community.<\/p>\n

Working group coordinator Catarina Santos said they have had some great activities return by popular demand, as well as introducing some new and exciting events that will surely interest many seniors.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo support our seniors in participating, bus transport will be available free of charge to some events,\u201d Ms Santos said, recommending those wishing to participate reserve their seat early to avoid missing out.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll bookings can now be done online through Humanitix, and we encourage people to learn how to use the platform by visiting the Millicent Public Library or one of the Visitor Information Centres at Penola, Millicent and Beachport, for help with their bookings.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe encourage seniors in our community to participate and support this Program, with a wide range of activities there will be something for everyone to enjoy.\u201d Regular Celebrate Seniors attendee Alice Cruickshanks was again eager to join in this year\u2019s festivities.<\/p>\n

\u201cKeeping my mind active is important to me and this program will keep me very busy. I\u2019m very much looking forward to the live music, cooking demonstration and the new events, like dancing demonstrations, bowling in Beachport, art classes in Kalangadoo and the bus trip to Penola,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Millicent Lions Club volunteer Yogi McMillan was also excited about assisting with the events, where this year fresh hot donuts will be offered at the movie session.<\/p>\n

Nominations for Wattle Range Council\u2019s 2023 Senior of the Year are now open, with the winner to be awarded at the closing event on October 31 so if you know a senior member of our community that deserves recognition for their contribution, nominate them now.<\/p>\n
