{"id":4874,"date":"2023-09-27T17:46:23","date_gmt":"2023-09-27T17:46:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=4874"},"modified":"2023-11-05T17:49:43","modified_gmt":"2023-11-05T17:49:43","slug":"cooking-up-a-fundraiser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/cooking-up-a-fundraiser\/","title":{"rendered":"Cooking up a fundraiser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Member for Barker hosts 9th Big Aussie BBQ<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Member for Barker Tony Pasin\u2019s 2023 Big Aussie BBQ has raised more than $1000 for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The ninth year of the event brings the total amount raised to well over $8000 thanks to the generosity of the Mount Gambier community.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery September since 2015, I\u2019ve held a Big Aussie BBQ to support our local Prostate Cancer Support Group and the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia raise funds and awareness,\u201d Mr Pasin said.<\/p>\n<p>In 2014 Mr Pasin attended the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia\u2019s Big Aussie Barbie at Parliament House, Canberra.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was at that BBQ in 2014 that the startling facts about the diagnosis and death rate of prostate cancer were made plain to me &#8211; it is the most common cancer diagnosed in Australian men,\u201d Mr Pasin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to the generosity of our community, and the volunteer effort of the local Prostate Cancer Support Group we have raised thousands of dollars for the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia.
