Premier Peter Malinauskas and his Ministers will visit Naracoorte, Bordertown and surrounds next month for the Government\u2019s seventh County Cabinet since 2022.<\/p>\n
The Cabinet \u2013 along with department executives \u2013 will head to the South East to hear directly from community members, organisations, businesses and elected representatives on Thursday, October 26 and Friday, October 27.<\/p>\n
Other towns Ministers will visit include Robe, Kingston SE, Millicent and Penola.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019ve long thought the South East is already an important economic contributor to the State, but it also has enormous potential to grow even bigger and better,\u201d Mr Malinauskas said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe people who know it best are those who live and work in the community, and we want to hear directly from them how we can best support that growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to acknowledge the work of local MP Nick McBride and his advocacy in bringing Country Cabinet to his community.\u201d The region has already seen significant State investment, with the Malinauskas State Government delivering its election commitment to secure the future of Keith Hospital.<\/p>\n
Now known as Keith and District Healthcare, a $9.75 million funding boost has shifted the hospital from a community-run model to form part of SA Health and the Limestone Coast Local Health Network \u2013 ending decades of uncertainty for the community.<\/p>\n
The Government has also provided an $8 million boost to the Naracoorte Hospital to upgrade its emergency department. While an additional $1 million has been set aside for a planning study and business case for potential future upgrades to the Naracoorte Hospital.<\/p>\n
Next month\u2019s visit will create an opportunity for locals to raise concerns, ideas, and suggestions to grow and help the community thrive directly with the State\u2019s decision-makers.<\/p>\n
As part of next month\u2019s visit, community are invited to a barbecue and public forum at Naracoorte High School, Stewart Terrace, Naracoorte, at 5pm and 6pm respectively on Thursday, October 26. Visit the website to register for the forum.<\/p>\n
Country Cabinet was reinstated by Premier Peter Malinauskas following the March 2022 State Election, after it was axed by the former Liberal Government. The initiative has already brought the Premier, Ministers, and Government department chief executives to Kangaroo Island, Port Pirie, Port Augusta, Mount Barker, Yorke Peninsula and Mount Gambier.<\/p>\n
