Volunteers are vital in delivering ac.care\u2019s mission of ensuring all country people have a safe home, enough money to live on and strong, positive relationships. Formed in Mount Gambier 35 years ago, the \u201ccountry specialist\u201d agency combines the efforts of staff, community partnerships and dedicated volunteers to make a difference in people\u2019s lives.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are a community-based agency working with the people around us as part of their community, which shines through in the way volunteers commit to our mission and support us in contributing to improving the lives of country people,\u201d ac.care chief executive Shane Maddocks said.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s National Volunteers Week and we are saying thank you to all our volunteers, who make a wonderful contribution to expanding our capacity to make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n
The agency\u2019s volunteers include close to 200 remarkable individuals, couples and families who share their homes with more than 370 children as foster carers across eastern regional South Australia, supported by ac.care staff.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese dedicated volunteers, who open their hearts and homes to vulnerable children in need of positive relationships truly transform young lives,\u201d Mr Maddocks said.<\/p>\n
\u201cSadly, we always need more volunteers to accommodate the growing number of children and young people in state care, but are forever grateful for the efforts of our valued network of carers and the commitment they make.\u201d<\/p>\n
Volunteers also contribute to ac.care in many ways beyond foster care, with the homelessness programs delivered in Mount Gambier, Millicent, Murray Bridge and Berri backed by a dedicated support team.<\/p>\n
ac.care is currently seeking volunteers to support staff in delivering quality services to the community.<\/p>\n
Duties include help cleaning emergency accommodation properties and preparing them for the next stay, support and knowledge to deliver digital literacy programs, client transport, collecting donated goods, as well as preparing food and drinks for clients at our community sites.<\/p>\n
