{"id":6318,"date":"2023-05-17T05:50:17","date_gmt":"2023-05-17T05:50:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=6318"},"modified":"2023-11-07T05:55:50","modified_gmt":"2023-11-07T05:55:50","slug":"colour-your-world","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/living\/colour-your-world\/","title":{"rendered":"Colour your world"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Your chance to turn your own vision into reality<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div>The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre is offering children with a chance to have artist Tom Moore turn their mythical creature drawing into a glass sculpture as part of the Abundant Wonder exhibition.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Children between the ages of 5-12 are invited to create an original drawing of any creature they can imagine inspired by the fantastical creatures of Abundant Wonder.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The winning drawing will be selected and made into a glass sculpture by artist Tom Moore in the JamFactory\u2019s Glass Studio. Moore is one of Australia\u2019s leading glass artists and has carved out a singular voice within Australian glass art making throughout his career.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>His fantastical world embraces gorgeous birds and animals that have already hybridised with modern automobiles and aeroplanes and is inhabited by exquisite creatures that are morphing to inhabit a universe that seems quite as ominous as it is beautiful.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre acting manager Talie Teakle said it was exciting to see a touring artist engage with the community like this.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cTo have one of Australia\u2019s leading glass artists turn your child\u2019s drawing into a real glass sculpture is such a unique opportunity,\u201d Ms Teakle said.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Moore said the inspiration for Abundant Wonder stems from his childhood memories.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>\u201cMuch of my work arises from the strange and delightful illustrations I saw as a child &#8211; these images crosspollinated and began to grow with hybrid vigour,\u201d said Moore.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Entries should be a drawing that is physically able to be made from glass, eye-catching and colourful, and full of personality. Examples of past winners are available on theriddoch.com.au<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The competition will run for the duration of the Abundant Wonder exhibition. Abundant Wonder is currently on view at The Riddoch Arts and Cultural Centre until June 25.
