{"id":6357,"date":"2023-04-05T05:57:23","date_gmt":"2023-04-05T05:57:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=6357"},"modified":"2023-11-07T06:00:31","modified_gmt":"2023-11-07T06:00:31","slug":"capturing-our-local-forests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/capturing-our-local-forests\/","title":{"rendered":"Capturing our local forests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>OneFortyOne student photo competition launched for 2023<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>OneFortyOne has launched its annual photo competition, asking local students to share what they love about the forest.<\/p>\n<p>External Affairs manager Charlene Riley said the competition aimed to encourage students to get outside, explore the forest, and connect with their local environment.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPine forests are part of the local landscape and people might be surprised at the types of plants and animals they find inside the plantations,\u201d Charlene said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to encourage people to get out and explore.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Along with entering photos, students will again be asked to submit 50-200 words to share what they love about the forest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach year we receive some amazing photo entries,\u201d Charlene said. \u201cThe highlight of the competition for us is reading the stories students submit. The panel are really looking forward to seeing what entries come in this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Winners will be selected in primary school, and secondary school categories, and awarded with their choice of a new iPad Air, DJI drone, or GoPro.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/109-4.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"803\" height=\"535\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-6359\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/109-4.jpg 803w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/109-4-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/109-4-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/26\/2023\/11\/109-4-272x182.jpg 272w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 803px) 100vw, 803px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This year, in collaboration with the District Council of Grant, some entries will be also exhibited at the Mount Gambier Airport gallery space.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe photos and stories are always so great, we can\u2019t keep them to ourselves,\u201d Charlene said. \u201cWe\u2019re going to pick our favourites, based on both the photo and the accompanying story, to display at the Airport to welcome visitors to the area, and welcome locals home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To enter, send photos, together with a completed entry form to weloveforests@onefortyone.com.
