{"id":6989,"date":"2023-05-31T10:36:41","date_gmt":"2023-05-31T10:36:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=6989"},"modified":"2023-11-07T11:22:07","modified_gmt":"2023-11-07T11:22:07","slug":"coach-sutton-on-fire","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/sport\/coach-sutton-on-fire\/","title":{"rendered":"Coach Sutton on fire"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Pioneers women continue to get the job done<\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For the third straight week, Miela Goodchild has led from the front as the OneFortyOne Mount Gambier Pioneers Women made it three on the hop with a home court victory over the Knox Raiders.<\/p>\n<p>The Pioneers entered the clash on the back of two consecutive wins, while the Raiders were looking to snap a three game losing streak.<\/p>\n<p>An opening quarter onslaught from the home side set up the victory, taking the quarter 32-16 to force the Raiders into catch up basketball for the remainder of the night.<\/p>\n<p>At one stage the lead for the Pioneers was 26 points but Knox never lay down and forced the game into some tense final minutes where the home side eventually prevailed by eight points to improve their season record to 8-3. Goodchild continued her standout form for Mount Gambier with 28 points, four assists, three rebounds and two steals on shooting 10\/17 from the field and 7\/8 from the foul line.<\/p>\n<p>Haliegh Reinoehl added 19 points, four rebounds and three steals, Cassandra Brown 14 points, nine boards, three assists and two steals, and Isabella Brancatisano 13 points, four assists and two steals.<\/p>\n<p>Again, the news was not good for the Castec Rural Supplies Mount Gambier Pioneers Men, who on the back of Saturday night\u2019s 63- 77 loss to the Raiders, suffered their fifth successive loss.<\/p>\n<p>There was never much in the contest but the Raiders always seemed to have the scoreboard edge.<\/p>\n<p>The Pioneers have now lost five consecutive matches on the back of winning the first six of the season. Skipper Kane de Wit (pictured bottom left) finished with 16 points, two assists and two steals for Mount Gambier with Julian Pesava contributing 12 points and five rebounds, and Leonard HarperBaker 10 points and 18 boards.
