<\/p>\nThe City of Mount Gambier will upgrade amenities and infrastructure at Frew Park and undertake road reconstruction works on Boandik Terrace as part of phase four of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure Program (LRCI) grant funding.<\/p>\n
Council endorsed the two projects at its October council meeting to the total value of almost $780,000 in Federal Government funding.<\/p>\n
The Frew Park project will include the design and construction of new public amenities, driveway sealing, fencing and seating upgrades.<\/p>\n
City of Mount Gambier Acting General Manager City Infrastructure Karl Manarangi said the public toilets at Frew Park had reached the end of their useful life, so would be demolished and a new facility built.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will seal the existing access road into the park as it gets very muddy and soggy after a lot of rain,\u201d he said. \u201cThe stormwater drainage system will also be assessed and rectified, and the picket fencing and seating will be replaced where necessary.\u201d<\/p>\n
Council will engage an external consultant with local heritage knowledge to undertake the design and contract management of the project.<\/p>\n

\u201cFrew Park is a local heritage place which will require careful consideration during the design process.\u201d Mr Manarangi said.<\/p>\n
LRCI funding will also enable council to fast track road reconstruction works on Boandik Terrace from Crouch Street to Warren Street.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis road was earmarked on council\u2019s asset management forward works program and we\u2019re now able to address it a couple of years earlier than anticipated which is a great outcome,\u201d Mr Manarangi said.<\/p>\n
The projects will be delivered by June 2025.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
