Glenelg Shire Council has listened to community feedback earlier this month and decided to shelve its planned changes to its Christmas and New Year celebrations. As a result, the festive season activities organised by council will be similar to last year. This will include council organising lighting of the Norfolk Island pine Christmas Tree on Bentinck St and also closing part of Bentinck St to traffic on New Year\u2019s Eve to permit alcohol consumption. Glenelg Shire Mayor Scott Martin said council had listened to residents after soliciting the feedbkac to proposed winding back of festive events. <\/p>\n
\u201cWe\u2019ve heard the feedback from the Community Satisfaction Survey which says we need to listen to our community better, and this shows we\u2019re doing that,\u201d Cr Martin said. \u201cWe hear you, and we have listened.\u201d More details of what this year\u2019s festivities will look like will be released in coming weeks. Cr Martin said council consistently reviewed costings throughout its operations, which included Christmas and New Year\u2019s events.
