{"id":7867,"date":"2023-11-22T04:42:07","date_gmt":"2023-11-21T17:42:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=7867"},"modified":"2023-11-21T18:46:56","modified_gmt":"2023-11-21T07:46:56","slug":"world-renowned-masterpieces-on-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/world-renowned-masterpieces-on-show\/","title":{"rendered":"World renowned masterpieces on show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hamilton Gallery will host Emerging From Darkness: Faith, Emotion and The Body in the Baroque, featuring world renowned masterpieces including some never-before-seen works.<\/p>\n<p>Opening on December 8, and running through to April 14 next year, Emerging From Darkness (EFD) will be one of the most important exhibitions ever to be held in regional Australia.<\/p>\n<p>Drawn from partnerships with and loans from the National Gallery of Victoria (NGV), the National Gallery of Australia and private lenders from across the country, EFD will showcase international masters including Artemisia Gentileschi, Lavinia Fontana, Sofonisba Anguissola, Peter Paul Rubens, Valentin de Boulogne, Guercino and Bartolomeo Manfredi.<\/p>\n<p>Baroque is considered one of the most passionate art movements, powerful, emotive and unapologetic.<\/p>\n<p>Visitors will experience works that impacted and changed the course of art.<\/p>\n<p>An exhibition of this content can usually only be experienced in galleries and museums overseas.<\/p>\n<p>Included in the show are rare paintings by female artists that cathartically reinterpret experiences of violence and turmoil, yet at the same time, represent a voice of empowerment, of asserting one\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p>As such, EFD is a unique cultural opportunity for local residents and visitors to the Southern Grampians region.<\/p>\n<p>In announcing support from the Labor Government\u2019s Regional Events Fund, Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events Steve Dimopoulo, said this internationally significant exhibition of baroque masterpieces was set to attract thousands of visitors to Hamilton \u2013 boosting local jobs, hospitality and tourism across the Southern Grampians region.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Hamilton Gallery director Joshua White was at pains to highlight the international significance of the exhibition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEmerging From Darkness is world-class and demonstrates how regional galleries can connect audiences to international experiences,\u201d Joshua said.<\/p>\n<p>EFD will be complemented by a symposium, a series of talks, tourism packages involving regional accommodation and food and wine experiences, and bespoke products including a coffee table publication.<\/p>\n<p>For further information, please visit <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hamiltongallery.org\/events\/efd\/\">https:\/\/www.hamiltongallery.org\/events\/efd\/<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Hamilton Gallery will host Emerging From Darkness: Faith, Emotion and The Body in the Baroque, featuring world renowned masterpieces including some never-before-seen works.
