Jack Haggett had a night to remember on his home court when he shot a record breaking 71 points in his team. Saints, demolition of Roos.<\/p>\n
Haggett\u2019s 71 points was not only an individual scoring record but also matched the team total of his opposition.<\/p>\n
It was raining points at Peter Seebohm Basketball Stadium as Saints tall timber, Haggett and Frazer Bradley, proved unstoppable on a night when both sides were missing personnel due to the Tenison Woods College Titans basketball tour of the United States.<\/p>\n
Saints quickly took total control of the game as Haggett and Bradley had the scoreboard ticking over at a rate of almost four points per playing minute in the opening 10 minutes.<\/p>\n
Saints then moved up a gear and lifted the scoring rate to 49 points in the next 10-minute stanza, resulting in a huge half time score of 81-30. At this stage of the contest, Haggett had a personal tally of 32 points.<\/p>\n
Roos, more resolute in their efforts, halted the run of the rampart Saints to some degree in the third quarter but this impact was however short lived as Haggett and company moved back into overdrive to post a 45-point quarter and an unbelievable final score-line of 152-71.<\/p>\n
Jack Wilkinson led the scoring for Roos, retuning 23 points.<\/p>\n

This game between Bulldogs and Cougars was also a scoring bonanza, though not in the league of the Saints-Roos contest, in which offence was clearly on top of respective defensive efforts. Simon Berkefeld is running into top form because of regular training and representing Lakers in the current Country Victoria Basketball League. Lock brothers, Shaun and Sam, along with Ben Young provide the ideal support for Berkefeld thus presenting an enviable depth of talent.<\/p>\n
Cougars\u2019 fortunes have improved considerably with the return of Braiden Ousey to their line-up and the continuing development of their juniors. Toby deWit maintained his role of the go-to player for Cougars and built a tally of 45 points, complemented by 28 from Ousey. A 34-17 second quarter set the foundation for a Bulldogs win and while<\/p>\n
Cougars finished strongly and outscored Bulldogs 34-23 in the final quarter, it was not quite enough to completely close the margin; overall, a most entertaining contest.<\/p>\n
