Back-to-back Alan Scott Medallist Nick Marshall has put pen to paper to commit to the Castec Rural Supplies Mount Gambier Pioneers for the 2024 season.<\/p>\n
Hot on the heels of interim Adelaide 36ers coach Scott Ninnis earmarking Marshall as one of the players set to earn more court time in what looms as a disastrous season for the franchise, Marshall was happy to commit for a third season in Mount Gambier.<\/p>\n
The 24-year-old 198cm star, Marshall averaged 22.26 points per game with a 49.34% success rate shooting from the field together with more than six rebounds per game.<\/p>\n
Marshall is an important signing for the Pioneers and head coach Richard Hill was thrilled he was returning.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s great to have our MVP from the last two seasons return for his fourth stint with the Pioneers,\u201d Hill said. \u201cIt\u2019s been exciting for all of us to watch Nick\u2019s development and I\u2019m really looking forward to that continued growth.<\/p>\n
\u201cNick\u2019s athleticism and versatility provides an extremely valuable X factor for us.\u201d.<\/p>\n
His brother Dylan had already committed to the club for the 2024 season.<\/p>\n
The OneFortyOne Mount Gambier Pioneers have also garnered a new signature.<\/p>\n
Having re-signed a handful of the 2023 roster, the club has now secured the services of 22-year-old 179cm Tayah Burrows.<\/p>\n
Burrows has played 37 games in the NBL1 West competition as a Rockingham Flame, averaging 16.65 points and 6.22 rebounds per game, proving herself to be a vital member of the team.<\/p>\n
She has previously played for Perth Lynx in the WNBL and Washington State in the USA College competition.<\/p>\n
Head coach Matt Sutton was excited Burrows chose to be in Pioneer colours for 2024.<\/p>\n
“I\u2019m very excited to have Tayah join the group for 2024,\u201d Sutton said. \u201cTayah will quickly become a fan favourite with her competitiveness and toughness.<\/p>\n
\u201cHer rebounding as a guard will help our ability to play fast; we can’t wait to have her here in the Mount.\u201d<\/p>\n
Signs the season is fast approaching included the dropping of the 2024 NBL1 South draw which will tip off on April 3.<\/p>\n
The Pioneers season will start on the road with a double header against the Sandringham Sabres and Waverley Falcons in round 1 on the weekend of April 6 and 7.<\/p>\n
Following the success of the club\u2019s first season at Wulanda the club board and volunteers are busy planning for the 2024 season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to building on the success of our first season at Wulanda and continuing to improve the game night experience and better engage with our people and community in 2024,\u201d president Tom Kosch said.<\/p>\n
The move to Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre saw increased corporate support along with improved experience and comfort for the clubs\u2019 sponsors, members, and fans this season.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe look forward to adding new opportunities of corporate hospitality for those who look to enjoy the basketball entertainment experience or partner with the club in season 2024,\u201d Kosch said.<\/p>\n
The home and away schedule includes 11 home games hosted at Wulanda Recreation and convention Centre including two double header weekends \u2013 eight of those games are Friday night fixtures; two are Saturday night and there is a Sunday night match.<\/p>\n
\u201cBuilding on our community engagement and the overall game night experience for our fans remains at the fore front of our club\u2019s vision heading into the 2024 season,\u201d Kosch said.<\/p>\n
\u201cFollowing the successful first season at the Pioneers\u2019 new home the state-of-the-art Wulanda Recreation and Convention Centre the anticipation for membership and season ticket release has been at an all-time high.\u201d<\/p>\n
