{"id":8292,"date":"2024-01-12T04:41:33","date_gmt":"2024-01-11T17:41:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=8292"},"modified":"2024-01-11T22:03:03","modified_gmt":"2024-01-11T11:03:03","slug":"naracoorte-lucindale-council-announces-australia-day-awards","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/naracoorte-lucindale-council-announces-australia-day-awards\/","title":{"rendered":"Naracoorte Lucindale Council announces Australia Day awards"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Naracoorte Lucindale Council has unveiled its 2024 Australia Day award winners ahead of the January 26 community celebrations and awards presentations in both Lucindale and Naracoorte.<\/p>\n<p>Naracoorte&#8217;s Australia Day celebrations will kick off with a free community breakfast in the Town Squares at 7am, with the official ceremony getting underway at 8am.<\/p>\n<p>Lucindale&#8217;s Australia Day ceremony will get underway at 11am at the Rotunda in Centenary Park followed by a free community barbecue lunch.<\/p>\n<p>Both events will again be livestreamed after this initiative was a resounding success when it was introduced in 2022.<\/p>\n<p>Naracoorte Lucindale Council is one of many councils and community organisations throughout Australia that has received funding from the Australia Day 2024 Community Events Grant Program to organise, promote and host Australia Day events that encourage the community to reflect, respect and celebrate for Australia Day this year.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>2024 AWARD WINNERS:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>LUCINDALE<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lucindale Citizen of the Year \u2013 Erin McWaters for her outstanding contribution to the Lucindale community, particularly her volunteer work and fundraising contributions.<\/li>\n<li>Lucindale Young Citizen of the Year \u2013 Micaela Baker for her outstanding contribution to the Lucindale Community, particularly for her establishment of the Lucindale Playgroup.<\/li>\n<li>Lucindale Active Citizenship Award \u2013 Shannon Burdett &amp; Erin McWaters for their outstanding fundraising contributions to the Cancer Council through the 2023 Shitbox Rally.<\/li>\n<li>Lucindale Community Event of the Year \u2013 Lucindale Country Club for hosting the Tennis SA State League All Stars.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>NARACOORTE<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Naracoorte Young Citizen of the Year \u2013 Ryan O\u2019Shaughnessy for his outstanding voluntary contribution to many community groups, particularly the Naracoorte P&amp;A Society.<\/li>\n<li>Naracoorte Active Citizenship Award \u2013 Nurtured Village Hampers Upper South East Limestone Coast group for their outstanding contribution to supporting young mothers and families.<\/li>\n<li>Naracoorte Community Event of the Year \u2013 Naracoorte United Soccer Club for hosting the only 2023 Australia Cup round outside of Adelaide.<\/li>\n<li>Naracoorte Citizen of the Year &#8211; the panel selected a recipient who declined to accept for personal reasons.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Naracoorte Lucindale Council has unveiled its 2024 Australia Day award winners ahead of the January 26 community celebrations and awards presentations in both Lucindale and Naracoorte.
