Reels Film Society has released their entertaining 2024 program that offers a smorgasbord of Australian and international films that should appeal to ardent lovers of cinema.<\/p>\n
The Limestone Coast based film society has a 12 film program handpicked by the selection committee including award winning films from the United Kingdom, the United States, France, Australia and Bhutan.<\/p>\n
Society president Rob Forgan said the society\u2019s objective was to bring movies to the region that entertain, inspire, thrill, challenge and educate members.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe present band of hard working volunteers continues the work of the founding members remaining loyal to the society\u2019s original aims when it was formed way back in 2008,\u201d Mr Forgan said.<\/p>\n
One of those goals is to show limited release films that are rarely seen outside capital city cinemas to the community in a social and friendly setting.<\/p>\n
Mount Gambier\u2019s Sir Robert Helpmann Theatre is the home to Reels and movies are usually screened on the third Thursday of each month.<\/p>\n
The program may vary slightly throughout the year and the dates and times for the next two years can be found on the society\u2019s website www.reelsfilmsociety.org.au<\/p>\n
Reels is membership based and is affiliated with the Federation of Victorian Film Societies which permits them to secure movies at reduced rates as well as operational guidance.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe benefit by having inexpensive access to art house films from Australia and overseas every month so we can sit back in comfort in the company of friends and enjoy highly rated films that rarely are seen outside capital cities,\u201d Mr Forgan said.<\/p>\n
New members are always welcome and can join online.<\/p>\n
