Robe Bowling Club hosted its ladies and men\u2019s pairs championship earlier this month with plenty of tight battles.<\/p>\n
In the first round Judy Bermingham and Helen Dawson defeated Bronwyn Matthews and Judy Phillips after Matthews and Phillips led until the 11th end.<\/p>\n
Scores were all tied up at that point before Bermingham and Dawson won the last end to take a 17-14 victory.<\/p>\n
In another close game, that followed an eerily similar script, Kerry Pedlar and Pam Robinson defeated Tracey Gray and Kerrie Boyd.<\/p>\n
The winning pair trailled until the 11th end when they drew level with their opponents, winning the 12th end by one to advance with a 9-8 scoreline.<\/p>\n
In the two other games Carolyn McCusker and Robbie Dahler defeated Lorraine Dening and Barb Brown and Nola Peel and Maria Cooper defeated Nola Boundy and Valma Jennings.<\/p>\n
In the semi finals, Bermingham and Dawson had a win over McCusker and Dahler and Peel and Cooper, after giving away a five on the first end, clawed their way back to win 11-9 against Robinson and Pedlar.<\/p>\n
In the final Bermingham and Dawson proved far too strong for Peel and Cooper winning 19-5, although the score was no indication of the quality of the game.<\/p>\n
The men\u2019s pairs championships started with Pat Lynch and Glenn Wright defeating Peter Gregory and Peter Roachock.<\/p>\n
Lynch and Wright got away to a huge lead early but Gregory and Roachock fought back to be all even on the 11th end, then Lynch and Wright steadied to win the last end and the match.<\/p>\n
In the second round Jim Gray and Josh Waddell defeated Peter DeLaine and Harold Manton, Dean Woodward and Steve Farrell defeated Mark Murphy and Paul Truelove, Pat Lynch and Glenn Wright defeated Mark Giles and Adrian Bermingham and Dean Burgoyand Steven Kennett defeated Errol Jennings and David Robinson.<\/p>\n
The semi final saw two very one-sided games with Waddel and Gray defeating Woodward and Farrell and Lynch and Wright defeating Burgoyne and Kennett.<\/p>\n
In the final there was some great bowls sent down by both teams but Waddell and Gray, who had played great bowls all day, proved too strong for Lynch and Wright winning 16-14 in a wonderful game of draw bowling.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
