{"id":8477,"date":"2024-01-29T04:19:41","date_gmt":"2024-01-28T17:19:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=8477"},"modified":"2024-01-25T18:23:58","modified_gmt":"2024-01-25T07:23:58","slug":"families-the-focus-of-storytime-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/news\/families-the-focus-of-storytime-program\/","title":{"rendered":"Families the focus of storytime program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>United Way Glenelg is delighted to announce that this year&#8217;s Magic of Storytime will take families on a magical journey into the world of storytelling and well-being, under the theme of \u2018Happy Healthy Families\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Partnering with the SEAChange Portland, United Way Glenelg has an exceptional lineup of guest readers for the Magic of Storytime series.<\/p>\n<p>This collaborative effort not only aims to foster a love for reading but also to unite professionals under the shared spirit of promoting \u2018Happy Healthy Families\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>United Wat Glenelg executive officer Nicole Carr said Magic of Storytime was more than just reading &#8211; it&#8217;s about creating a space where families can come together, learn, and have fun.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis year&#8217;s theme reflects our commitment to the overall well-being of families,\u201d Ms Carr said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEach Magic of Storytime event promises book giveaways, entertaining activities, and ample opportunities for parents and caregivers to seek advice from professionals about cultivating happy and healthy family dynamics.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ms Carr encouraged families to stay connected on United Way Glenelg social media channels for updates and exclusive behind-the-scenes glimpses of the Magic of Storytime series.<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural guest reader is Portland District Health dietician Mara Tan, who will be reading the delightful and humorous book \u2018I Will Never Eat a Tomato\u2019 by Lauren Child.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be plenty of engaging activities, including the chance to create fresh fruit smoothies on the smoothie bike (calling on the big people to lend a hand!),\u201d Ms Carr said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery child will also craft and take home a visual plate overflowing with nutritious foods, emphasising correct portion sizes.
