In the Limestone Coast we have always known how great Robe\u2019s Long Beach is but the word is about to spread nationally and beyond with Tourism Australia naming the stretch of coastline the best in South Australia and eighth overall nationally.<\/p>\n
Robe Mayor Lisa Ruffell was thrilled with the announcement for a multitude of reasons.<\/p>\n
\u201cPromotion of this announcement is always fantastic for Robe district but l also feel it\u2019s very important for our community to know outside our town others believe we have the best beaches too,\u201d Mayor Ruffell said.<\/p>\n
And the town\u2019s leader was clear on why Long Beach made the cut.<\/p>\n
\u201cLong Beach is easily accessible, has pristine waters and is a beach that is safe for families to enjoy, with gentle surf,\u201d she said. \u201cYou can drive along the beach for approximately 17km, with awesome views of the turquoise waters and marine life.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Mayor also talking up the entire Robe precinct off the back of a summer that saw the seaside town enjoy a busy season.<\/p>\n
\u201cRobe\u2019s hidden treasures are the breathtaking coastal walking tracks, views from the highest places like Beacon Hill and there\u2019s the boutique food outlets and retail shops,\u201d Mrs Ruffell said. \u201cThe most awesome thing about Robe is its warm welcome from our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
And that welcome mat was rolled out again over the recent summer break where numbers were slightly down due to mortgage and cost of living pressures but still a busy period.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll our business had a busy summer season, with our visitors thanking them all , for great service and warm welcome,\u201d Mrs Ruffell said. \u201cRobe is a beautiful place to be for the environment, food, lovely beaches, and great walking and riding tracks.<\/p>\n
\u201cDuring COVID times we were blessed as SA residents could move around our state and a lot of people visited Robe for the first time and some have returned.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe now have the range of visitors again from families to grey nomads and international tourists returning.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Mayor is also a business owner and her firsthand experience, as well as feedback from a February 6 meeting with the community and business owners, garnered similar feedback.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe feeling is that everyone that visits or stays here has a wonderful experience,\u201d Mrs Ruffell said. \u201cThey mention it\u2019s a family friendly town with so much to do and experience.
