In the end, the South Australian Street Stock Titles was a war of attrition with only seven of the drivers in the feature final greeting the chequered flag.<\/p>\n
Claiming the 30th State Title of his career, Mount Gambier driver Anthony Beare gave locals a reason to cheer with his victory, while another local, Jayden Edwards, finished fourth.<\/p>\n
Right from the outset, a hometown champion looked likely with Jason Duell leading the A-Main for around 15 laps before a puncture ended his campaign for the SA State Title.<\/p>\n
In fact, punctures and mechanical failure plagued the field, with Victorians Matt Nelson and Dale Morrison finishing second and third respectively after the field of 60 battled through 18 heats, two B-Mains and then the A-Main final.<\/p>\n
Impressive local results also came in the junior sedans action with Mount Gambier\u2019s Jayden Garner (2nd) and Portland\u2019s Flynn Annett (3rd) putting in a good showing in the Top Stars event , which was taken out by Victorian River Paterson.<\/p>\n
In the Next Stars racing it was an all-local podium with Portland\u2019s Tyler Wilson finishing first; fellow Portland driver Jackson Warrener second and Mount Gambier rising talent Violet Thorne in third.<\/p>\n
The demonstration racing from the super modifieds was another highlight of the March 16 meeting.<\/p>\n
Next on the calendar is the always popular Easter Sprintcar Trail with the Borderline Speedway hosting the Saturday racing.<\/p>\n
Nominations are now open for teams to compete across three consecutive nights commencing at Geelong\u2019s Avalon Raceway on Good Friday (March 29), before crossing the border to Mount Gambier for night 2 at Borderline Speedway (March 30) and then the third and final round will be held Easter Sunday, March 31 at Sungold Stadium Premier Speedway.<\/p>\n
Each round will pay $5000 to win each night, with $7000 prize for the series champion across the three nights.<\/p>\n
A total of $15,000 will be paid out across the top five in the series, in addition to the tow money paid out each round.<\/p>\n
