Matthew Tully and Liam Fielding are set for the adventure of a lifetime when they line up with around 300 participants for the 2024 Mystery Box Rally.<\/p>\n
On Saturday, August 16, in Airlie Beach, Queensland, the Mount Gambier duo will join teams from all over the country in Mystery Box Rally, tackling a mystery five-day driving route where each night\u2019s stopover will only be unveiled to them at the start of each day, that\u2019s the mystery.<\/p>\n
It had been a long time goal for Matthew to participate in a charity rally, so his wife Summa decided to put his name in the pool for the mystery box challenge.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was one of those do it now or never things, and who better to do it with then his long time school friend Liam,\u201d Summa said.<\/p>\n
The pairing has strong motivation to be involved in this cancer fundraiser.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are doing it for those fighting the fight and those that have lost the battle,\u201d Matthew said. \u201cWe have had many family members battle cancer so it is fitting to help raise funds for the Cancer Council.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe will be travelling in a 1992 Eb Ford Falcon, which we are currently preparing for the rally and we are looking forward to seeing the Queensland outback.\u201d<\/p>\n
Cars must be older than 25 years, roadworthy with no 4WD or AWD and teams need to raise a minimum of $4000 to participate with the overall fundraising target set at $1million.<\/p>\n
The finish line is back in Airlie Beach on August 21.<\/p>\n
No mechanical experience is needed, just willingness for good times and fundraising.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have had a great response from local business from donating goods and services for raffles, and sponsorship, which is helping our fundraising efforts,\u201d Matthew said.<\/p>\n
The Straight Outta Compton team\u2019s next fundraising event is a Mothers Day Raffle.<\/p>\n
Prizes include accommodation and hospitality vouchers, Jimmy Rees tickets, garden, book and beauty vouchers with Majella Wines, Lakes Comfort Inn, Hills Road Farm, Slice of Metro, Vanity, Collins Books, Gardenarium, Shabby Chic Salon, Lauren Fox Massage Therapy, Dyzner and Cleaneasy all contributing to the raffle prizes.<\/p>\n

The rally is part of Box Rallies, which includes Shitbox Rally and Cancer Cruise; devised in 2009 by James Freeman after both his parents died of cancer within 12 months of each other.<\/p>\n
Box Rallies is now the leading individual fundraiser for Cancer Council nationally generating over $41 million to Cancer research plus media awareness for Cancer Council.<\/p>\n
This helps the lives of millions of Australians who are facing their unknown journeys.<\/p>\n
