United Way Glenelg will release its 2023 Annual Report to the Community at its Annual General Meeting highlighting a year of significant achievements and the expansion of community programs in the Glenelg Shire community.<\/p>\n

The report will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Dolly Parton Imagination Library in Glenelg Shire community, a decade marked by enriching children\u2019s literacy and imagination.<\/p>\n

In a serendipitous highlight, young Willow Board, a participant in the local Imagination Library program, found a special ‘golden ticket’ in her book delivery, marking the 200 millionth book distributed worldwide by the Dolly Parton Imagination Library. This golden ticket not only represents a milestone for the global program but also symbolises the vast impact of the initiative on young readers around the world.<\/p>\n

Last year also saw the expansion of several vital community support programs. The Little Free Pantries have increased in number, providing essential goods to families in need at no cost. The introduction of the Costume Lending Libraries proved to be a major success and highlight, aiming to bring joy to children and families across the community, especially during Book Week.<\/p>\n

Further strengthening support for families, United Way Glenelg continued to offer back-to-school with the introduction of winter school shoe vouchers. These initiatives have been crucial in ensuring that every child returns to school equipped and ready to learn, despite financial barriers.<\/p>\n

Seasonal support was also evident with the distribution of winter care packages and Christmas hampers, to older residents, bringing warmth and joy to many households during the colder months and festive season.<\/p>\n

All these achievements have been made possible through the generous contributions of our community via workplace giving programs, dedicated support from volunteers, generous locals providing goods & services and investment from The Lewis Court Fund.<\/p>\n

Executive Officer Nicole Carr said as they celebrate these milestones, they are reminded of the power of community and the impact of collective action.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur achievements are not just numbers; they are stories of empowerment, learning, and support that weave through our community,” Ms Carr said.<\/p>\n
