{"id":9545,"date":"2024-06-07T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-06-06T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/?p=9545"},"modified":"2024-06-05T14:42:29","modified_gmt":"2024-06-05T04:42:29","slug":"mount-gambier-makes-strong-start-to-state-series","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/mtgambiertimes\/sport\/mount-gambier-makes-strong-start-to-state-series\/","title":{"rendered":"Mount Gambier makes strong start to State series"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Last weekend saw the Mount Gambier Cycling Club make a strong showing at the first of four Superdrome Track Events held in Adelaide.<\/p>\n<p>The event, hosted at the Adelaide Superdrome, featured 50 riders from across the State, including participants from as far as Whyalla.<\/p>\n<p>Nine cyclists represented Mount Gambier out of the 50 competitors, competing in a range of events including the scratch race, keirin, moto pace, win and out, and the heart starter.<\/p>\n<p>These events provided a valuable opportunity for country riders to gain experience on the indoor velodrome, a different challenge compared to their usual outdoor races.<\/p>\n<p>The competition was intense, with each rider earning points for both participation and performance.<\/p>\n<p>The Mount Gambier team excelled, leading the points tally at the end of the day with a total of 132 points.<\/p>\n<p>They were followed by the South Coast Cycling Club with 109 points and the Norwood Cycling Club close behind with 104 points.<\/p>\n<p>The success of the Mount Gambier Cycling Club not only showcased their skills and determination but also highlighted the depth of talent in the region\u2019s cycling community.<\/p>\n<p>With three more rounds to go, the competition promises to remain fierce.<\/p>\n<p>The next round of the Superdrome Track Event series is scheduled for Saturday, July 6.<\/p>\n<p>The Mount Gambier Cycling Club aims to maintain their lead and continue their dominant performance.
