{"id":9531,"date":"2024-07-18T08:52:16","date_gmt":"2024-07-17T21:52:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/shewhothrives\/celeste-barber-brings-the-laughs-to-geelong\/"},"modified":"2024-07-18T08:52:16","modified_gmt":"2024-07-17T21:52:16","slug":"celeste-barber-brings-the-laughs-to-geelong","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/shewhothrives\/celeste-barber-brings-the-laughs-to-geelong\/","title":{"rendered":"Celeste Barber brings the laughs to Geelong"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Australian comedian Celeste Barber is taking her show <\/strong><em><strong>Backup Dancer<\/strong><\/em><strong> around Australia and New Zealand as part of her 2024 tour.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At her coming shows, audiences can expect a night of laughs as she tackles topics from inappropriately texting therapists through to what it would actually be like to be Taylor Swift\u2019s backup dancer and more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m really excited to tell some jokes, relive some awkward memories and high kick my way across the stage with my new show <em>Backup Dancer<\/em>,\u201d Barber said.<\/p>\n<p>She has already taken her tour across the United States with a number of sold out shows and a performance at Los Angeles <em>Netflix is a Joke Fest.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The comedian, actor and writer got her start in Australia\u2019s largest open mic competition, RAW Comedy, in 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Barber has since found international success, performing sold-out shows in the United States, New Zealand and across Europe as well as at home in Australia.<\/p>\n<p>In 2018 she released her memoir <em>Challenge Accepted<\/em> which was shortlisted for the ABIA 2019 Biography Book of the Year and published her first children\u2019s book in 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Barber also stared in the number one Netflix series <em>Wellmania<\/em> and in the award-winning ABC series <em>The Letdown<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Along with her success on stage, she also used her platform to raise $52 million during Australia\u2019s black summer bushfire in 2019 and 2020 for the NSW RFS.<\/p>\n<p>Celeste Barber and her show <em>Backup Dancer<\/em> will be at Costa Hall on August 30.<\/p>\n<p>For tickets and more information, head to <a href=\"http:\/\/geelongartscentre.org.au\"><strong>geelongartscentre.org.au<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Australian comedian Celeste Barber is taking her show Backup Dancer around Australia and New Zealand as part of her 2024 tour.
