{"id":9600,"date":"2024-04-27T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-04-26T17:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/shewhothrives\/basketball-stadium-to-turn-pink\/"},"modified":"2024-04-27T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2024-04-26T17:00:00","slug":"basketball-stadium-to-turn-pink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/shewhothrives\/basketball-stadium-to-turn-pink\/","title":{"rendered":"Basketball stadium to turn pink"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BALLARAT Basketball staff are hosting an inaugural Pink Luncheon early next month.<\/p>\n<p>To be held on Wednesday 8 May in the Selkirk Stadium lounge, the aim of the event<\/p>\n<p>is to raise funds to support breast cancer research and treatment.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This year we are partnering with Breast Cancer Network Australia as well as a local organisation in Ballarat Pink Phoenix, in the effort to raise not only critical awareness but also much-needed funds that will assist both organisations continue the wonderful work that they already currently do,&#8221; said Ballarat Basketball partnerships and marketing manager, Chris Thornton.<\/p>\n<p>Ballarat Pink Phoenix is a breast cancer support group that has regular social meeting, but members also fundraise to support the work of McGrath Foundation-funded breast care nurses at the Ballarat Regional Integrated Cancer Centre.<\/p>\n<p>The Pink Luncheon is just one part of Ballarat Basketball&#8217;s Pink Week, running from Monday 6 to Saturday 11 May.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This luncheon will form a major part of our week of festivities to celebrate, promote, and appreciate the importance of the cause and how we, through our sporting network, can ensure that we make a lasting impression that hopefully has an even longer lasting impact moving forward,&#8221; Mr Thornton said.<\/p>\n<p>Also on the week&#8217;s schedule is an official launch, deliveries of care packages with Ballarat Pink Phoenix members to McGrath nurses, a Together Walk from the Minerdome to Selkirk Stadium, and community engagement.<\/p>\n<p>Individuals can book seats at the luncheon for $70, or tables of 10 can be booked for $500.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Everyone attending will be provided with a pink drink and canapes on arrival as well as a sit-down meal whilst listening to a guest speaker panel, as well as a silent auction throughout the day, where some of the prizes are worth coming for,&#8221; Mr Thornton said.<\/p>\n<p>Arrival for the luncheon is from 12pm.
