THE Woady Warriors’ young netballers now have a flood light to train under at Smythesdale thanks to donations from local businesses.<\/p>\n
The 600-watt flood light was donated by AWM Electrical Ballarat and installed by Damien Maher from Flash Electric with the help of Regional Contractors.<\/p>\n
“One of our builders who’s a dad mentioned he had a friend who was a contractor and they he would approach them,” said Adam Liversage, club president.<\/p>\n
“I got a call from that person the next day and they said, ‘yes, we’d be quite happy to donate a flood light’.”<\/p>\n
Before the light was installed it was challenging and dangerous for netballers to train.<\/p>\n
“The winter months in Ballarat kick in and it gets darker a whole lot earlier now,” said Mr Liversage.<\/p>\n
“Our netball kids have basically been training at dusk and in the dark.”<\/p>\n
This is not the only donation the club has received, with Smythesdale Sand and Soil providing sand to fill potholes and Prestige Denture Clinic giving free mouthguards to children.<\/p>\n
Mr Liversage said it’s great to see local businesses supporting community sport.<\/p>\n
“We are in a cost-of-living crisis and small businesses are really struggling at the moment,” he said<\/p>\n
“It’s really good to see goodwill, particularly with local businesses and local sponsors.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
