FOR 25 years The Central Victorian Women’s Choir, performing as Women of Note, has enjoyed the joy, vitality and connection of singing together.<\/p>\n

As a non-auditioning choir, WoN meets weekly to foster friendship and confidence through song, singing a diverse repertoire including traditional songs from around the world, classical, folk, jazz and contemporary music.<\/p>\n

They perform at community events and host their own concerts, often inviting other Victorian choirs to join them, as they did for the choral spectacular Come to the Music <\/em>in May 2023.<\/p>\n

The choir is often invited to perform at musical events in the local community, regionally and in Melbourne.<\/p>\n

They have sung at festivals overseas in Africa, USA, and New Zealand and will be performing at Hobart’s Festival of Voices in July. This festival attracts some 30,000 singers and audience members, and has become Australia’s leading singing celebration.<\/p>\n

As a prelude to this trip, WoN will host its annual concert, Winter Harmonies<\/em>, on June 30th, at St Paul’s Cathedral in Bendigo.<\/p>\n

Under the leadership of Music Director Anne Begg and Accompanist Merle Hopman, this year’s concert will present a range of 20th-century songs celebrating ‘Sunshine, Rain, Love, PeacE,’ and the joy of singing.<\/p>\n

The choir will be joined by the Castlemaine Chamber Players and Naroman, the Melbourne Timorese Community Choir, adding an enriching musical experience.<\/p>\n
