The life &amp; inventions of Hedy Lamarr is a 36-character solo play that&#8217;s toured the world, picking up 29 awards along the way.<\/p>\n<p>On the line from Bulgaria, Massie told the story about how she developed the show.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Growing up, I wanted to be an astronaut or an inventor,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I started university in astrophysics and ended up with a theatre arts degree, but science was always close to my heart.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/24\/2024\/08\/HL3_99057.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Profound affinity: Heather Massie has evoked Hedy Lamarr\u2019s aura in her one-woman show since its premiere at the United Solo Festival in New York City in 2016. Photo: AL FOOTE III<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I decided that I wanted to have something that I could take around the world, and realised that I&#8217;d have to make it myself.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I figured that a lot of different groups would have interest in Hedy because she&#8217;s Hollywood, she&#8217;s invention, she&#8217;s intrigue, she&#8217;s part of the history of World War II.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That&#8217;s proven to be a very good choice because I&#8217;m still touring the show seven and a half years later.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>HEDY! The life &amp; inventions of Hedy Lamarr takes place on Wednesday 14 August from 6pm. Tickets can be booked at <a href=\"http:\/\/discovery.asn.au\/exhibit\/hedy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">discovery.asn.au\/exhibit\/hedy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The show is touring Australia for National Science Week and is sponsored by World Learning and Fulbright Australia.
