WOMEN\u2019S Health Grampians\u2019 new audio project is broadcasting unique stories of diversity amongst regional Victorian women.<\/p>\n

The Equality for All <\/em>podcast series launched this month, hosted by young Gunditjmara woman, Tanisha Lovett.<\/p>\n

She conducts an interview with a different Grampians region woman about their diverse background and lived experiences each episode, putting discrimination, family violence, the COVID-19 pandemic, the LGBTIQ community, migration, disability and being an older woman under the microscope.<\/p>\n

Ballarat Regional Multicultural Council executive committee member, midwife and equality advocate, Joy Sawiche Juma is featured in the initial episode.<\/p>\n

She migrated to Australia from Kenya in 2004.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis podcast will create awareness, and someday soon, cause the long-awaited change in attitudes and stereotyping from \u2018those people\u2019 to \u2018us\u2019,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u2018\u2018By telling my story, I want to think that each listener will be empowered and driven to make that change.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the episode Ms Sawiche Juma unpacks her workforce experiences in Victoria. Coming from a migrant background, she said her skills and expertise have been undermined before.<\/p>\n

The podcast\u2019s aim is to inspire organisational change and the hope is the community will be more inclusive, accepting and celebratory towards women come from diverse backgrounds.<\/p>\n
