The new court was built at Alfredton Primary School.<\/p>\n<p>All three courts have 200-lux LED lighting and fencing.<\/p>\n<p>Alfredton Primary School co-captain Annie said the new court will encourage students to get active.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will help them to get experience, grow up and do a lot more sports and try new things,&#8221; she said.<\/p>\n<p>The project was funded with $700,000 from the State Government and more than $600,000 from the City of Ballarat.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The quality of facilities at this reserve are more important than ever,&#8221; Member for Wendouree Juliana Addison said.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_30038\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-30038\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-30038 \" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/9\/2025\/02\/netball3_82178.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"368\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-30038\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The project was funded by the City of Ballarat and the State Government.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is about saying that women&#8217;s and girls&#8217; sport is so important, and they deserve this investment.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Alfredton Recreation Reserve is used by Ballarat Junior Football Netball Club, Ballarat Storm Junior Football Netball Club, and Ballarat Redan Cricket Club.<\/p>\n<p>The new court will allow the football netball clubs to develop new programs, accept more members and host matches.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Essentially now we&#8217;ve doubled the number of junior netballers that can now get a game,&#8221; Ballarat Football Netball Club president Craig Lightfoot said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;ve grown to over 400 girls now that get a regular game of netball with us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Without this investment we certainly couldn&#8217;t provide that.&#8221;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>THE Alfredton Reserve netball project has been completed, with upgrades to two existing courts and the construction of a third.
