GEELONG United will be looking to bank two wins in a row tomorrow (Saturday, November 23) when it takes on the UC Capitals in the Geelong Arena.<\/p>\n

The WNBL’s newest expansion side is sitting at two wins and two losses, and fourth in the league standings.<\/p>\n

This past weekend, United added its second win for the season, taking down the Adelaide Lighting 72-66 in an overtime thriller<\/p>\n

Keely Froling was dominant once again, putting up 19 points and grabbing 13 rebounds in 40 minutes of action.<\/p>\n

The sharp-shooting tall is off to a flyer in season 2024-25, averaging 19.5 points a game and 11.8 rebounds a match.<\/p>\n

Froling received strong support from her fellow starting players, with Elissa Brett scoring 14 points and Haley Jones swooping on 13 rebounds to go with four made baskets.<\/p>\n

United’s energy off the bench was also prominent, with the second unit scoring 29 points to the Lightning’s 10 during the matchup.<\/p>\n

Head coach Chris Lucas praised his squad for their even performance.<\/p>\n

“This win was bigger [than the first win]. To come up with a win against a team which is loaded, I’m super-proud.<\/p>\n

“Our defence wasn’t great, but after the third quarter we played like we should be.<\/p>\n

“Keely [Froling] found a way against Brianna Turner. Elissa [Brett] was great and performed consistently. She’s tough as. Jaz Shelley is not far off a breakout game, too.<\/p>\n

“These girls won’t stop fighting.<\/p>\n

“There’s a real intent in the way we can play, which is giving us confidence.”<\/p>\n

Tomorrow’s opponents the UC Capitols will be searching for its first win of the season after starting off with a 0-3 record.<\/p>\n

Guard Jade Melbourne will be one to watch for United, with the veteran guard enjoying a stellar start to the season and averaging 20 points and 5 assists a game.<\/p>\n

United will need to defend the sharpshooter closely from the perimeter if it is to win the tussle.<\/p>\n

Lynetta Kizer will not don the blue and white uniform again this season, with club and player mutually agreeing to part ways.<\/p>\n

United wished to thank Kizer for her contribution to the club and wished her the best for the future.<\/p>\n
