we had a significant rise in attendance compared to last year.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The rise in attendance will certainly help not only help us from a charitable point of view, but also allow us to cover our costs, which is terrific.&#8221;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69084\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69084\" style=\"width: 363px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69084 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/04\/8714079a11da1f3ecc48ac7abea5677c-e1681873304241-363x380.jpg?_t=1681873307\" alt=\"\" width=\"363\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69084\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Half marathon winners Danni Rogan and Dane Verway.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69086\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69086\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69086 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/04\/GHM2023-14-600x380.jpg?_t=1681873154\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69086\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dane Verway was the overall winner on the day.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Both 21km and 5km courses started beside the Moorabool Street bridge and journeyed upstream next to the Barwon River and then back to the start line following a criterium loop track.<\/p>\n<p>As one of Geelong&#8217;s last community club-organised running events, Mr McNulty said he was proud that athletes, volunteers and sponsors had continued their support of the event, even after the greulling pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69085\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69085\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69085 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/04\/GHM2023-16-600x380.jpg?_t=1681873135\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69085\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Danni Rogan crossing the line.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_69087\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-69087\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-69087 size-thumbnail\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/21\/2023\/04\/GHM2023-8-600x380.jpg?_t=1681873176\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"380\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-69087\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Regardless of the conditions, competitors still embraced the event.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It continues to be our biggest public event of the year and a great way that we can support the community who continue to support us.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;From a charity point of view, the event has helped to raise over $70,000 for the Andrew Love Cancer Centre\u2026 it&#8217;s an important cause for our club and we&#8217;ve had several members use their services.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Last year, we raised $10,500 for them, and with our rise in attendance, we expect that donation to be higher in 2023.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Coming out on top in the 21km race was Dane Verway (male winner) with a time of 1:11:48 and Danni Rogan (female winner) with a time of 1:22:13.
