BARWON Water managing director Tracey Slatter has been appointed as the new chief of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).<\/p>\n

The Victorian government announced the appointment Monday, with Ms Slatter to start her new role on July 3 to replace the outgoing Joe Calafiore.<\/p>\n

Ms Slatter has led the Geelong region\u2019s water authority for six years, and was previously head of claims at the TAC so is well-known in the public insurance sector.<\/p>\n

TAC Minister Danny Pearson said the respected leader was the ideal candidate to continue the commission\u2019s work to reduce Victoria\u2019s road toll.<\/p>\n

\u201cCongratulations to Tracey Slatter on her appointment \u2013 her experience and expertise will be instrumental in the TAC reaching its goals to support clients and make our roads safer for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cJoe Calafiore has fought tirelessly to improve safety on our roads and reduce the number of Victorians affected by the devastation of road trauma \u2013 I thank him for his unwavering dedication to the TAC and wish him all the best in his next chapter.\u201d<\/p>\n

Minister for Road Safety Melissa Horne also welcomed Ms Slatter\u2019s appointment this week.<\/p>\n

“I am thrilled to welcome Tracey Slatter to the role of CEO at the TAC \u2013 I am confident that her leadership will help the organisation continue to deliver exceptional outcomes for all Victorians.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to working with Tracey as she leads the TAC in achieving our ambitious target of eliminating death from our roads by 2050, with the first step of halving road deaths by 2030.\u201d<\/p>\n
