THE Great Ocean Road Coast and Parks Authority (the Authority) has repaired and reopened a Marengo beach access after tides damaged the staircase two weeks ago.<\/p>\n

The improvement works which were officially completed this week included the addition of new timber treads and the extension of the handrail down to the beach.<\/p>\n

The authority said the recent erosion was “unusual” and a combination of high tides and large swells had been responsible for the damage to the access point.<\/p>\n

Apollo Bay and Marengo Beach are known hot spots for coastal erosion and the authority will continue to review their erosion management plans for the area.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
