HUNDREDS of pupils in Anglesea have learnt the valuable lesson of getting to school safely in line with their school’s new active transport strategy.<\/p>\n
Anglesea Primary School pupils joined thousands of other students across the country as part of National Walk Safely to School Day on Friday last week, taking steps towards a healthier future.<\/p>\n
School principal Murray Surkitt said the school-wide walk played a part in the school’s Active Travel Program. The fun-filled day continued for pupils in the afternoon with a pupil-led Colour Run to celebrate International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia, which was observed two days earlier (May 17).<\/p>\n
“The Grade 6 School Values and Student Voice leaders planned and implemented the run with support from the school’s wellbeing officer,” Mr Surkitt said.<\/p>\n
“The children had a lot of fun as they ran around the course getting sprayed with coloured powder by parents and staff.”<\/p>\n
