{"id":103917,"date":"2023-05-25T09:47:55","date_gmt":"2023-05-24T23:47:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/?p=103917"},"modified":"2023-05-25T10:45:16","modified_gmt":"2023-05-25T00:45:16","slug":"harrison-makes-aussie-team-for-isa-world-titles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/timesnewsgroup.com.au\/surfcoasttimes\/sport\/harrison-makes-aussie-team-for-isa-world-titles\/","title":{"rendered":"Harrison makes Aussie team for ISA world titles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>BARWON Heads surfer Ellie Harrison has achieved her greatest professional feat to date, named as one of Australia&#8217;s representatives in the International Surfing Association (ISA) World Surfing Games at El Salvador next week.<\/p>\n<p>The 18-year-old will join Australian great Sally Fitzgibbons, Championship Tour competitor Sophie McCulloch, former world number one Jack Robinson, 2023 Rip Curl Pro champion Ethan Ewing and Liam O\u2019Brien in the Irukandjis squad at the event, to held Surf City from Tuesday, May 30 to June 7<\/p>\n<p>Harrison, the 2022-23 Australia Oceania Pro Junior champion, said Wednesday night&#8217;s announcement was unexpected.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was definitely a huge surprise and I&#8217;m so excited to get an opportunity to go travel with Sally (Fitzgibbons), Ethan (Ewing), Lobby (Liam O\u2019Brien, Sophie (McCulloch) and the rest of the Australian team for this event.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSurfing and being at the same contest as world champions like Carissa Moore and John John Florence is going to be such an amazing experience and I\u2019m just so stoked.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been a crazy experience and it still feels incredibly surreal.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>El Salvador will mark the third time Harrison has donned the green and gold for Australia, and caps off a huge past 12 months for the Barwon Heads youngster, who also won a spot on the WSL Challenger Series this year.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_103919\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-103919\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-103919\" src=\"https:\/\/static.timesnewsgroup.com.au\/prod\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/05\/EllieHarrison_BoostM_40887.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"600\" height=\"400\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-103919\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">The world tier event will mark the third time Harrison has worn the green and gold for Australia.
